Colorful Houses in Cologne

We picked up our rental car and drove from Amsterdam Airport to Cologne, Germany. Was Ed's first time driving in Europe. The first 50km were pretty hair-raising to say the least, vehicles whizzing past us, after 50km he was comfortable with the new ride and we were just another car going at a good speed on the autobahn : ).

We arrived in Cologne & checked in.. walked to the Dom

, it was an awesome feeling to stand in front of this beautiful cathedral

. we spent a couple of hours inside the Dom

and then walked down to the square, and then to the River Rhine.

Absolutely loved it, sat on a ledge overlooking the river flowing by.. and walked along the side.. there was a cruise boat ready to leave in a few mins and on the spur of the moment we decided to be on that cruise.. it was the highlight of our evening in Cologne.

My teenage daughter has promised to buy me a house along the River Rhine when she grows up.. : ) that's what the cruise did.. made us dream of a future living in this beautiful place and there were a few dream houses I pointed to her and apartments and trailer homes and even a castle..

The cruise was both exciting and interesting, gave us a good view of the city and the change in scenery across town. The sunset was gorgeous and so were the views. Will recommend a cruise if you are short on time in this beauiful city, Koln.
