Got an early start this morning because I wanted to drive while the weather was relatively “not hot” (it’s nowhere near “cool”!) Still, the truck overheated several times along the way and ran higher than normal the rest of the time. Unfortunately, Elkmont is not a town where we’d find a diesel mechanic so we’ll just keep starting earlier than normal and heading north.
Nothing overly exciting about the drive today (not counting the truck problems)…easy drive through country that reminded both of us of Virginia….green, green, green. Passed a huge cross along the highway, drove past Tuscaloosa and Birmingham, a Mercedes plant and a greyhound race track.
Left at 9:15 a.m. and arrived at the
Mill Creek RV Park around 1:44…about 4 ½ hours driving time and 232 miles, part on interstate and part on red roads.
Quiet campground way out in a valley between the Alabama hills….very dark, very quiet, very peaceful.
6/22/10Out for some geocaching today. Down to Athens to Walmart. Beautiful drive through the country on the way home. There are some lovely old plantation homes in Elkmont.
