Ed & Marilyn 'The Happy Wanderers' travel blog

We slept well last night and were up at 7:00 this morning. We were unable to get on the internet so we simply took our coffee out and sat beside the fire, enjoying the peace and quiet of the early morning.

We finished our coffee and then made ready for a walk.

With plans made for the day, we decided to limit our walk to a mile and a half.

We had a few chores to accomplish so I took the trash out and dumped the holding tanks.

With fresh showers and clean clothing, we were ready to head out into town.

We decided to have lunch at “Olive Garden” where we usually order the Soup, Salad, and Bread Sticks. Why change things when it is always delicious.

We enjoyed our lunch and then drove across Academy Blvd to the Mall, where we shopped for Marilyn’s shoes at Dillard’s.

They didn’t have the shoes Marilyn wanted and the prices were quite high so we left. We talked about how few people were at the Mall, and there weren’t many cars in the parking lot.

I suspect that business is really down in that area.

We drove back to the RV resort where Marilyn took her book and went to her lounge chair in the shade of our awning.

I went out to play a round of golf on the Wii.

It was pretty warm outside today but the humidity is in the single digits, and the nice steady breeze kept things comfortable.

We had a couple of thick steaks thawed, to put on the grill but finally decided to save them for tomorrow.

I told Marilyn this morning that I was missing our friends from Llano Grande. She misses them too. Both of us hope that they will appear at Llano Grande during the winter months.

We know that Jan will be there and we hope that Heinz & Irene, Gilbert & Louise and the others will be there also.

We look forward to our trips across the border to Mexico, and the good sea food at South Padre Island, as well as our group bicycle outings at the bird sanctuaries and state parks.

Although we look ahead to our time in the valley, we are so happy to be here in Colorado, at Mountaindale RV Resort.

This resort has some of the finest, roomiest, and most comfortable RV sites we have ever seen. We have lots of room to put lawn furniture out around the campfire ring, as well as on our “patio” carpet. They furnish a picnic table also.

Although we have no cell phone service, the resort furnishes a cordless phone with nationwide service, at no charge to people staying here.

The wi-fi hasn’t been great this year but they have ordered a T-1 system which should provide fast, efficient, internet service, with lots of bandwidth.

It is very quiet here at night, and normally cool enough to sleep with the windows open.

Although we are only in the foothills of the high mountains, we are at an elevation of about 6,700’ which gives us an ideal climate with warm days, cool nights, low humidity and day after day of brilliant sunshine.

The resort has ice cream (all you can eat) on Saturday evenings, for a donation of $1.00 per person.

If any of you full-timers are looking for a great place to spend the summer, I would suggest that you try this resort.

Take a peek at their website at: www.mountaindalecampground.com

The website is very well designed also, with an interactive map of the campground. When you click on any site, you will see a picture of that site with an RV parked there. In fact, when you click on site #82 you will see Marilyn & I relaxing under our awning.

Well dear readers, with that, I will wrap this up for today.

We hope you have had a fine day today.

Marilyn & I are relaxing and sending you cyber hugs.

Life is Good!
