Dee:
Day 2 awake at 6:30am we’re still messed up on jet lag but we’re fine. A nice breakfast and we’re out of Dublin.
Yikes….this driving on the left side of the road is quite unnerving and can make you come out of your skin on some of these one lane wide 2 way roads if you know what I mean!!!! I’m the one reminding Dale to stay on the left side of the road and stay out of the ditch, which happens to be my side.
Dublin is quite modern and caters to the younger crowd of Ireland. I couldn’t wait to hit the countryside and experience the traditional Ireland.
Our goal was to get to Donegal. As soon as we were out of Dublin the narrow roads came into play. Seriously, I couldn’t put my hand out of my window
for fear I would lose it to the trees or rock walls, which are everywhere and beautiful. Also, very easy
to become backseat driver.. Ask Dale =0 )
The weather was overcast but not raining…the view of the mountains were great as well as the harbors along the coast.
Along the way we stopped in the quaint town of Sligo. Interesting people. As we’re walking along a bridge over the Garavogue River, we saw a man in the river with waders on and a grabber thinger, whatever it is. When we asked him what he was doing he said he found some new and some old coins..one was 1600’s.
We found Fiddlers Creek Bar as our lunch destination. It overlooked the river as well as the town….and of course Guinness with Fish & Chips…Yummy.. =)
After lunch we drove past our B&B and checked out Donegal town. Beautiful Harbor, huge boats and cruise ship…and many Irish Bars for us to choose from for tonight’s recreation….yes we’re going to have ginnies….
After we rested at the B&B we headed back to Donegal for dinner. Once in Donegal we walked
round town saw the castle and a little of the town. We ended up at The Castle Pub. While there ended up watching the USA and England playing a World Cup game.
Ther happened to be an English lad in the pub cheering for the England, we for USA and another family cheering with us. Great game we tied England who were suppose to win…go USA. Good food, good Guinness…aaahhhh.
