Our Trip Home for the Wedding travel blog

On Saturday evening we hosted a barbecue/pool party and it was so much fun! We invited a whole bunch of our friends and there ended up being only 11 of us; Rhonda & myself, Danielle & Zac, Jamie & Kelly, Tom & Cynthia, Martine and Howard & Jennifer. But even though not everyone showed up, it was so much fun. We had so many laughs and just enjoyed our time together. And then there was food...lots and lots of food. And even more laughs...lots and lots of laughs.

That was the last big shin-dig before we leave for the trip home in 5 short days. When we get back to Houston in mid-July, we will have to plan on having everyone over again. I'm sure by that point we'll miss everyone so much and will have lots of wedding stories and photos to share. So a great big thank you to everyone who shared in a great evening!

On Sunday, Martine came back with her border collie Gilley and Dani & Zac came over with their yorkie Vito and pomeranian Luca, for some fun in the pool. We were out numbered by dogs; 5 adults and 6 dogs, but we all had a great afternoon. It also gave us the chance to have others to help eat up the leftover food from the party the night before.

This week we have a million things to do to be ready in 5 days. I still have to finish up dress alterations and of course, we have to clean and pack the camper. Tonight our 3 reptiles, Kemah the bearded dragon, Tao the mali uromastyx and Honu the red eared slider turtle are going to a private reptile rescue facility. Because we are moving back to Canada in less than 6 months and they can't move with us, I have decided to send them to the rescue sooner, rather than later. I'm dreading it already and it brings tears to my eyes just writing this, but it's the best decision for them and us. They are all amazing little creatures and I know they will find wonderful homes. The turtle will be released as soon as he's big enough.

Well, lots to do so that's it for today's update. Have a good one...
