|We drove from Periyar and arrived at the peaceful backwaters. It is coconut fringed waterways and lovely people and amazing food. Most of the transport is via ancient little canoes :) although some have little outboard motors.
We went for a wander along the river bank which was nice and chatted to a guy sitting on the bank waiting to spear prawns and fish... The prawns were enormous. But then we saw a dead rat in the river that was the size of a cat, eew!
Ravi our guide then showed us how to climb a coconut tree and got us a ripe one to eat, so good... I love coconut!
We went on a walk around the village and through the rice paddies, with a huge thunderstorm and monsoon rains fast approaching! It was really pretty. After that we hung out on the outdoor swinging chair then tried coconut toddy (beer) which was pretty nasty!
