June 4th we walked around the beautiful Les Jardines in the centre of Nantes town. As it was the first very hot day we've had (28 degrees), the cool shade was a welcome relief. Unfortunately, there is a no walking on the grass policy, which seems a very unnatural thing in a park! We ate our picnic lunch on a bench before crossing the rue to the arts museum. This contained some huge masterpieces dating back to the 14th Century, and even a Raphael. More street and sight gazing and people watching over a coke at one of the many cafes, complete with piano accordion musician, before the tram ride home.
June 5th saw us take 2 trams and a boat ride (all transport - trams, buses and boats are in included in the ticket price) to the colourful fishing village of Trentemoult.
Walked for seemingly hours... as usual (think of the calories , Shirley!) before taking a break under some trees and watching the Walk for Jesus crowd.More picnic lunches before tramming back via the Lidl (supermarket) for our dinner.
