On Our Way To Nowhere travel blog

Dave, Debbie and the grand kids drove down on Sunday afternoon, March 14. They all stayed with us Sunday night and Dave and Debbie left on Monday morning on their cruise. Gene drove them to the cruise dock around 10:00am and they were scheduled to leave around 4:00pm but Debbie called to say their departure was going to be delayed a couple of hours.

Later that afternoon we took the kids over to see the cruise ship before it left the dock. While we were at the docks we visited the Tall Ship Elissa and museum. We stopped for ice cream on the way back to the RV. After a short visit to the pool and the beach we settled in for the night.

We spent the rest of the week playing Putt Putt Golf, visiting the aquarium, the Johnson Space Center in Houston, flying kites and playing in the pool, hot tub and on beach. Gene took Maddie and Nick to the movie to see Avatar while Zack and I hung out at the RV. As long as Zack had his computer he was fine. We took them out to eat a couple of times and I managed to get by with chicken nuggets, french fries, grill cheese sandwiches and pizza the rest of the week. I didn't promise I'd feed them nutritious meals, only that I'd make sure they didn't go hungry!

Maddie is finally tall enough to ride my bike and Gene bought a new bike last week, so Nick and Maddie had bikes to ride in the park. They made friends with another young boy in the park so they had someone to ride with and play.

Over all I think the kids enjoyed themselves and we all had a good time. Dave and Debbie returned on Saturday, March 20. They decided to drive home that afternoon so they would have Sunday to get things together and get back to school and work on Monday.

I looked forward to the week for 2 and a half months and it came and went too quick! I miss them already!
