While we were in Lebanon, we visited the Civil War battlefield in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. The beautiful grassy fields have monuments and statues commemorating the famous 3-day battle of July, 1863. There are several overlooks, as it was very important to the outcome in hand-to-hand combat to have a good view of oncoming soldiers. Scattered throughout the official tour are plaques and cannons that give details as to what occurred.
We went to East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania from there to visit Mike and Yvonne and our nephews, Troy and Ryan. The weather was hotter than normal, and the humidity was high. We had forgotten how much we love Pennsylvania, with its hills and lush greenery and wildlife. From there, we went north to the New York State border, for some rest and maintenance chores. We are staying in an Army Corps of Engineers campground on Cowanseque Lake, and the deer and bunnies visit in the morning.
