Cyndy going rock climbing.

She made it out on the rock, long way down...

Looks easier than it is to get back across.

Lots of cracks in that rocky ledge Cyndy was standing on...

That's our 4WD road zig zaging down the canyon.

And there the road goes in the bottom of the canyon, toward...

Cyndy & Gene with canyons and the Rockys in the background.

That's the Green river down in the canyon about a thousand feet...

White Rim Canyon

On Wednesday, 26 May 2010, we drove to the north end of Canyonlands. The area is called the Island In The Sky District. You see, Canyonlands is divided into 3 separate sections by the Green and Colorado Rivers. No way to get from one district to another while staying within the park. It is over a hundred mile drive from the Needles to the Island District, and even further from these 2 to the Maze district over on the west side of the park. It is quit an awsome sight to behold from where ever you enter the park. So today we were in the Island District and started by taking the first 4WD road as we entered the park. This was the White Rim road, but we didn't drive the whole distance as that would have taken a while at 75 miles of rough, dirt, high clearance road. The distance we did cover made us eager to return some day and make the whole trip around the park on this road. As you see in the pictures, Cyndy likes the view from the edge, so she climbed out on a large rock sticking out past the edge. It is sometime a bit of a challenge crossing these cracks in the rocks when you are looking a thousand feet straight down, through the crack...
