We had a great day today. We took a cruise to Daufuskie Island. The island is located between Hilton Head, South Carolina and Savannah, Georgia.
You board the ferry in Hilton Head and it takes about 45 minutes to reach the island. Our tour was fantastic. We found a 1/2 off coupon deal that included the ferry, the tour and a wonderful buffet luncheon served when we reached the island.
You can choose a guided tour by bus, or you can drive your own golf cart and use a map to view the island. We chose the golf cart and are glad we did. We had the cart for over three hours and could stop anywhere we wished and take pictures etc. The cost for the tour was $46 each. What a great deal for a whole day of entertainment!
I am adding photos to show all the places we visited. One of the most interesting sites was the school from the movie "Conrack". Set in 1969, based on Pat Conroy's "The Water Is Wide," the movie details the experiences of a young teacher (Jon Voight), who takes on the fifth through eighth grades in a black school on the island.
We also enjoyed visiting Three Mile Beach and viewing the Daufuskie Resort & Spa and much more. I will let the pictures show the rest of the tour. We highly recommend it to anyone in the area.
