Monday May 24, an incredibly hot and humid day in downtown Cleveland. Joan & I walked down to the Rock & Roll Hame of Fame which is right on Lake Erie and next to the Cleveland Browns stadium, Mother took a pass not being a fan of R&R. Joan spent about two hours but I stayed about 5 hours. Everything I expected it to be and so much more. What a place and so very much to see. Like a giant Rock & Roll musuem with so much memorabilia, displays, artifacts and theatres playing wonderful R&R history & concert films. Magnificent! I am in heaven. I could easily spend a week here. Going to have be satisfied with 2 full days! If anyone out there loves R&R like I do, this is the place you must visit. The Hall Of Fame store has by far the best and most extensive selection of CDs I have ever seen. Everything is here! All I have searched years for is here. From the old Delta Blues, to the garage bands of the 60s, all the psychedelic and heavy metal, disco and soul one could want. Looking for the Electric Prunes or ? & the Mysterians? It's here. The Chiffons, the Crystals, the Ronettes, got em! And finally, the only Dave Clark 5 CD in existence. Import of course, so many wonderful imports here. And brand new releases in vinyl! A huge rack of new 45s! I could easily spend thousands of dollars on CDs here. I had fun! Returning of course tomorrow. So while I was indulging my happiness, Joan & Mother went shopping. It is so hot and so humid here smack dab in downtown. Ordinary city, typical of big American cities. Got a homeless problem and beggars and bums in the street. Can't say it's a pretty city but there is lots of history and cool old buildings. Not wanting to stand out as tourists and particulary as polite Canadians we quickly adapted to a local custom. Pedestrian signals, particularly "don't walk" signals are always to be completely ignored. They mean nothing and only a fool would stand waiting for a "walk" signal. Tried to go to the House Of Blues for dinner. So in the mood for BarBQ ribs, collard greens and garlic mashed potatoes but temporarily closed for the day. We ended up eating dinner in a bowling alley in the Warehouse District. Battered and deep fried dill pickle chips with chipotle dip! Excellent. A B.B.King invention we had them before in Memphis but with horseradish dip which is much better. The humidity here really takes toll; exhausted it was early to bed. Big day again tomorrow and supposed to be just as hot!
