Don't you LOVE the name of this place? I keep thinking of The Wind in the Willows!

No journal yesterday because we were in Walmart's parking lot in Whitehorse last night. Could not believe the number of RV's that were there; Ralph counted 37.

And today we've seen at least a hundred RV's of every size, shape, and description on the road heading TOWARD Alaska. Talk about feeling like a salmon (going up stream, for those of you who don't get the message).

The drive from Tok to Whitehorse yesterday was uneventful - we didn't take a single picture (except of the RV's at Walmart).

At Watson Lake, we'd planned to put up our Grand Island license plate, but once we saw how many there were, it really wasn't worth the effort.

Today we saw more animals in one section of road than you can believe. We've gotten real cynical about the signs that say "moose" or "caribou" on the road because we seldom saw anything. Today was a different story. The sign warned "Bison on road" and lo and behold we saw about ten, spaced over many miles!

Then Ralph said he wanted to see a grizzly close enough to photograph. And there it was... eating right beside the road!

I commented that the only thing we'd missed was a mountain goat.

Before long one appeared on the right side of the road.

We enjoyed the Liard Hot Springs this afternoon. It's a Canadian public access area. The springs are quite large and the temps vary. But we felt some really, really hot water! Just what we needed after two days of driving.

Now we're at camp, backed up on a nice lake. And to keep BT current, we had chicken, yellow rice, and carrots for supper. (And I had a nice glass of wine!).
