Jim and Linda's Canadian Maritimes travel blog

We have been here in Kentucky for over two weeks now. The first week was spent helping our son and family deal with some electrical problems at their home. We house sat and watched over the electricians and local utility company employees as they inspected and reconnected their power.

Then, we had a fun weekend by babysitting our two grandchildren while our son took his wife for a birthday celebration at a casino and spa for a night. We took the grandchildren to the Falls of Ohio in Jeffersonville, Indiana. This is the place where Lewis and Clark set off on their expedition in 1803; but you can also look for fossils here. Since there has been so much rain the past month, the Ohio River is very high and has left alot of trees as the level of the river dropped.

This past week we did some things for ourselves...among them shopping for RVs, upkeep to the truck camper and lunch with the Orrs, who are also in the KY/IN area. They are friends we have met through our Escapee RV Club. It was good to get together with some other RV friends, as we know no one at the park we are staying.

Today and tomorrow are being spent watching our grandchildren participate in a swim meet. The meet was a long course and the times were great for both of them. Tomorrow should be equally as challenging and fun.

As for the weather...I would rather be in AZ or MI. It has rained almost everyday since we arrived, but today was gorgeous--75-80F and sunny. The next week is to be in the high 80s with little rain. I'm guessing lots of humidity with all the rain we have had! I guess we're never happy no matter what the weather is!

Who said visiting grandchildren is boring. We're having a wonderful time!
