| lol, yeah, i know, rather dramatic headline, just wanted to make sure you're all awake. been in langkawi for 3 days and just want out now. its just a victim of mass tourism and not what i wanna see. beaches are absolutely packed all day every day with 50 odd jetskis on the go, speedboats everywhere and parasails everywhere. all the trips are seriously overpriced and clearly aimed at tourists rather than backpackers (tourists being short term stayers in 1 place, backpackers go from place to place, usually with less money to spare) with snorkelling trips nearly 50 quid (as opposed to the 10 i paid on phi phi). Didnt get to go on the cable car either as the weather was just piss poor. spent half the afternoon getting between the japanese woman and iranian guy who own the place im staying at. they absolutely hate each other and spend all day shouting at each other then telling guests how they wish the other would die!! physically had to stand between them earlier to stop him hitting her!! ive now booked to go to the perhintians tomorrow. i leave here at about 5pm and get there about 7am. done it deliberately to save on a night's accomodation, just makes sense this way. feeling kinda low again, partly lonliness, partly missing someone and partly just downright bored. got a bad feeling about perhintians too, apparently its high season there so may have my work cut out getting a room at a decent price. if not ill just go onto the mainland for the night, then head towards the jungle railway and another 13 hour journey! apparently its worth it and dont know too many people who have got a train thru the jungle so will be yet another experience of a lifetime :D think part of the thing here is that its full of couples and over 50's in particular. im no ageist but defo has an older, monied vibe to it. dont get me wrong, if i was on a 2 week holiday i would have no problem paying the prices they want here, but ive gotta fink long term. still trying to plan out the next few months, am waiting to find out if i need to go to koh samui in july. as it stands im already a week ahead of plan so need to slow down a bit. got 13 weeks left so need to take my time and chill a bit :D christ, im moaning again. says something about my current state of mind! as i keep saying, gotta remind myself how lucky i am, not many people get a chance like this and im busy being miserable. this will be fun, just need to get my positive finking head on again. laters |
