Pee Wee's Adventure Summer 2010 travel blog

Canyon Point 2008

We have began the hardest job of all for any trip, preparation. The lists that we made in the winter while we were sitting around the house, thinking of all the things we needed to complete before we leave now seem never ending. Stop the newspaper, the mail, shut down the utilities to a minimum, refill prescriptions, vet appointments for the pets, service the RV and the truck, etc. Slowly we have been completing the list one by one. As we get closer to the departure date (May 31st) the lists are getting smaller. I just fear that we have forgotten something big. Oh well, we will find out soon enough.

Our beloved cat, Grace, was a wonderful passenger for the last few years. She was comfortable in the kennel in the back of the crew cab or sitting on Judy's lap. She got very sick on a trip out to California at Christmas time 2009. We took her to Banfield at Petsmart but she never fully recovered and we finally put her to rest in March of this year. We have a new traveller with us this year. Cleo is a 2 year old chocolate Siamese. She has all her shots now and is getting along with our 13 year old Min-Pin, PeeWee. Cleo went on her first trip in the RV 5 days after we got her. She adapted easily to life on the road and after exploring every inch of the trailer she was quite comfortable during our Santa Fe, New Mexico vacation. We will be taking clothes and dry goods over to the trailer storage location and completing the inventory of all things in the trailer compartments. If we don't need "it" we are not taking it. We leave on May 31, 2010 for our first destination, Canyon Point USFS Campground on AZ Highway 260 above Payson, Arizona. We will be at 7,200 feet elevation and there might still be snow in the area and in the 30's at night. It will be 102 during the day in Sun City West. More to follow when we arrive at Canyon Point.
