The Helicopter idea

Leos House

Wednesday 12 May

We made our way to Amboise to Leonardo de Vincis House. He was the French Kings Painter, Engineer, and friend for the last few years of his life. This was where he died. The house was more of a manor than huge chateaux. We loved it. There were school kids everywhere completing workbooks. We alked through his rooms thye bedroom he passed away in, the saloons where hefinished the Monba Lisa and John the Baptist, the longe where he would talk with his bgood friend trhe King of France whose Royal Chateaux was only across the way. In fact we saw the secret passge tunnel the King supposedly used to see Leonardo. It is a cosy place of brick. Downstairs were models of all his inventions including bridges, machine guns, tanks, helicopters, planes, waterwheels and more. Outside his Italian gardens were kept impeccably,we wandered through. They have made interactive gardens with life size models of all the inventions for kids to play with. The boys enjoyed the steam powered machine gun, stone lifting cogs, helicopter blades.

The old village of Anboise is as it was and very pleasant. Got back to the carpark and had a ticket. Bugger. We had looked for signs but didn’t see any. Went home on the A10 motorway for 4 Euros. Much quicker. National Holiday in France tomorrow. The weather is still chilly. Wed love to go camping but it needs to be warmer.
