The Southern States Road Trip travel blog

Yup...I can talk to the animals! During my stay on Skidaway Island in Savannah, I went outside to get some things from my car and saw three deer. Two walked away slowly and the other just stood there and looked at me. He kept coming closer and finally came and licked one hand and then the a little doggie. I have deer in my backyard every day, but none has ever approached me, so this was very exciting.

I forgot to mention in my last update that we stopped in Statesboro, Ga, just north of Savannah. We saw the Georgia Southern Botanical Garden...small, but nice. For a late lunch, we hit our favorite buffet, Ryan's. At this point, I am well on my way to being a contestant on "The Biggest Loser".

Our second day in Savannah was spent on Tybee Island...the beach for Savannah. We enjoyed just resting and smelling the ocean air.

Now we are in Hilton Head, South Carolina...also enjoying the beach, biking, shopping & stuffing our faces. We didn't realize what a long walk it was from the beginning of the dunes to the water, especially carrying chairs and an umbrella, but we made it. I almost plotzed! Today, I did some bike riding and we are planning on going to the beach & walk among the shops. This is a very pretty area with lots of walking paths, gardens and ponds. I could get used to this life.

Well, folks, that's all for now. It is in the high 80's here today, so it is time to hit the beach. Water is warm too.

Until next time,
