Wednesday we leave Pooh’s at 9:20am 63 degrees. It rained this morning. H15 has some amazing rock formations. The desert landscape with these sand colored rock outcroppings, some slick others jutting up in angular patterns, others rounded mounds, like large smooth river rocks molded together. The power lines stand like tall women’s dress forms against these sage brush covered hills. Not sure why the camera is not working well. ? if need to change batteries again, will try this PM. It is sunny with scattered clouds 49degrees at 4190feet. The Cajon Pass Summit diner advertises ostrich burgers, locally grown. We also see used spas for sale and across the road are sheds for sale of all descriptions. We think of Sara Palins Home town. Joshua trees are everywhere, beautiful yellow blooms. We pass Roy Rogers and Dale Evans Parkways. Hi40 to Needles there4 are solar farms feeding the ladies in this high desert valley. At 11:31 it is 72degrees. Lots of deserted structures everywhere. You would have to be tough to live on this land out away from civilization. There are dry salt flats that give way to foothills with lava strewn everywhere. The landscape changes abruptly to tumbleweed blown hills. Route 66 parallels the road. At 12:08 clouds are gone and it is 76 degrees. The tumbleweed is green. We stop for lunch at 1:15 the rest stop is very full and it is 81degrees and windy. We roll over a rollercoaster road into Laughlin at 2:16 arriving with huge winds.
We are staying at Davis Camp County Parkin Bullhead City AZ.
