Living our RV Dream! travel blog

It feels like we’re running on a hamster wheel…… going round and round and don’t know when to jump off. ☺

Today Tony went into work and resigned his part time job. They have asked him to return there as and when we land in Tampa again. Isn’t it wonderful to be happy at work???? They also understand our RV lifestyle and Tony’s “itchy feet” consequently they were very understanding of our situation, needing to get back on the road.

Me, I have lists up the wazoo. Grocery lists, To Do lists, appointment lists and so it goes on. This morning I spent most of the morning on the phone speaking with three of the prospective employers. I had no idea our resumes would be so well received – it certainly isn’t many occasions in one’s life that you can actually choose which job you would prefer. This is a treat although it is pretty overwhelming as well.

We have dissected and written down all the pro’s and con’s of each job, spoken to the employers and still we get the gut feeling that the workamping job in Iowa is going to be the best for us. There are others with a better financial package but I am not that excited about standing on my feet for a large part of the day… so money comes with a price.

The director of the City of Storm Lake (Parks & Recreation) called me this morning and asked us to complete the required application and background check. So I have completed mine and Tony will complete his this evening. We will be able to fax them tomorrow morning, this will give us the clearance that we need to go, although Tom has verbally told us that we have the job dependant on our background check.

In the meantime we have many things to take care of before we leave. Tomorrow morning Tony will take the Ford F350 in to the dealership for a service. I on the other hand have much more important things to take care of ☺ like having a pedicure… ha ha. Yes as well as getting 6 months prescriptions from our Dr and meds for Gucci from her Vet, swopping our newspaper subscription to our daughters address… yes they always score! Oh yes I also have to return the Bright House cable TV equipment.

We also have a large BBQ, gardening tools, some furniture items and other odds and ends to take to Candice’s house (remember this is still our house), these are all too heavy and bulky to schlep on the road with us. Tony may opt to do this after he has had his vehicle serviced.

On Wednesday we will drive over to the other coast of Florida for the day to visit our daughter Tania and say our goodbye’s to her and our precious little grandchildren.

Thursday will be Gucci’s pet grooming day, finalizing everything around the 5er for the long trip and saying our goodbyes to our daughter Candice here in Tampa. We are really going to miss her little one. Luc is 17 months old now and is very close to Tony because he took care of him for 9 months, so Grandpa and little Luc have a very strong bond. It’s going to be sad to leave all our grandbabies but our kids understand our lifestyle choice which makes it a little easier for us. I know so many of you are in the same boat as us… it’s certainly not great being separated from the family is it?

It’s time to get dinner ready.. so I’ll chat more tomorrow.
