Our news…. Our news……
First – we did not find a suitable motor home today, so that means that we will be keeping the 5th wheel. I certainly am not sorry at all…. Actually I am secretly thrilled ☺
Secondly and most important....We will be going back on the road probably by the end of this week!! YAY!!!
Our lives have been a whirlwind since I resigned. On Friday we applied for 4 workamping jobs, all spread out across the country, but all were exactly what we had in mind with regards to workamping and suited our skills.
By Saturday (yesterday) we already had one firm offer (in Minnesota) and another 80%, “almost” offer (in Iowa). I say 80% because we have already had an email plus a phone interview from them and they will be giving us the final phone interview tomorrow, but the assistant manager has intimated that the manager is probably going to offer us the job. Yesterday we also received an email from the Fort Worth, Texas job telling us of all the conditions etc at their park and letting us know that the manager will be calling us Monday for the interview. The fourth and final application went to a place outside of Atlanta, Georgia which I personally was semi hoping for. He (the manager) did call me soon after receiving our resume and said that he too will be making his decision on Monday.
Wow!!! So…… the firm offer in Minnesota has 2 things which we are not too happy about. They have a lot of ATV’ers during the summer season and we equate that to noise up till 10-11pm at night and they also offer the smallest compensation. What they do have is an extremely pretty treed park on a FISHING, tubing and canoeing river… the fishing part is a huge plus for us.
The 2nd one - in Storm Lake, Iowa looks very much like what we want and are probably going to get. It is also a very pretty treed park situated on Storm Lake with plenty of fishing and a reasonable compensation package.
Offer 3 and 4 are probably not going to be in contention because they are going to come in too late.
All these parks want the couple NOW! There season being from May 1st to Labor Day. This means that Tony will have to get all his ducks in a row by the end of this week so that we can head out.
We don’t want to drive too far each day and the Iowa campground is 1500 miles away, we might not even do 300 miles per day, we will see. We will play each day by ear and see where we find a nice enough campground to overnight.
So that’s our news… we are EXTREMELY excited! As soon as we hear more from the employers I will let you all know.
Watch this space……..
