We are on the move heading up the coast of California. Just a couple of thing we want to do anlong the way. We had a very nice visit with Chuck and Sally Johnson, (our wagonmasters for Alaska 2008) in Oxnard CA. Then we went into an RV park just north of Santa Barbara but found out it was in a valley with no cell service or internet. That only lasted a day. We have moved up near Morro Bay and plan to visit Hearst Castle today and then move up near San Jose. Weather is good and all is well.
Went out to see Hearst Castile today. The weather was perfect and the tour was very interesting. Well worth the time to go over there. Tour number 1 is for the first timers so that’s the one we did. $24 each but it is a State of California operated attraction and all the money goes to maintaining the property. It draws about 800,000 visitors per year. Construction began in 1919 and stopped when William Hearst died in 1947. It was given to CA in 1957 by the Hearst estate. Not a very practical place to live but a very interesting history. Lots of stuff collected from all over the world that was used to decorate the house and property.
Tomorrow we will drive up to the San Jose area for a couple of week.
