What Can We Say?

First thing in the morning, everyone heads to Lake Josh. Tom caught some Sunnies last evening and John catches some this morning. Did I say Sunny? They are Amazon River Giant Bill Sunnies. The fish will get bigger as the trip gets longer.

Today we explore PA 381. Our first stop is the Falls Mart in Ohiopyle for breakfast.

Next, we try to get an early tour of Falling Water. The morning tours are all reserved for school trips. We decide on the self-guided grounds tour instead of coming back in the afternoon. It is fine. The house and its setting is what we want to see. It is an amazing home!

Anna misses the hike to “The View” where you can get the best pictures of Falling Water. She goes back on her own but gets lost. I think it is an excuse to get the security guard to give her a ride to the parking lot.

For lunch, we head back to Ohiopyle and park overlooking the rapids. Ohiopyle State Park is known for its rafting trips. It is a great place for a picnic lunch and a needed breather.

Our last stop of the day is Fort Necessity National Battlefield. We watch a twenty-minute video on the French and Indian War and the building of the National Road. We walk to the fort and all agree it has been a full day! It is time to head back to the campground.
