The view from our B&B at Killbritain
This morning we left New Ross and drove to Waterford, stopping for a short break and having a walk along the beach. We then drove to Cork where there was a political rally happening so the traffic was busy, and onwards to Blarney. Visiting Blarney Castle we managed to climb the 129 steps to the top so as we could kiss the Blarney Stone and receive the gift of the gab, not that we didn't already have it. But now we know for sure and have a certificate to prove it.
The contortion act to achieve this had to be seen to be believed, it involved lying on your back with a man holding your legs, leaning your head right back over a gaping hole in the ground (this is very high up too), and then kissing the stone from a virtual upside-down position!
After Blarney we carried on down to Kinsale which we had been told was a must-see in Ireland. Kinsale is about 20 kms south of Cork and is a very beautiful part of Ireland not to be missed. We missed it - well almost, we drove through it, looking for a B&B but as the Rugby 7's tournament was on, they were all full, so we kept driving, eventually arriving at a place called Killbrittan which was about 20kms away from Kinsale. As there were local restaurants there, we never got back to Kinsale.
