New Ross - they are very much into John F Kennedy here
Lorraine and Dot at our B&B in New Ross
Leaving Brigend in the morning was a nightmare. They had closed off the centre of town to traffic and so I had to drive round and round 3 times before I was able to park somewhere close enough to our Hotel for us to drag our luggage to the car. After getting out of town we decided not to leave it that late again for a B&B.
Once we were out of Brigend we headed towards Fishguard for our ferry to Rosslare. We just had time to pop into Swansea for a look before setting off to the ferry terminal.
The ferry left at 4.00 pm and for a start wasn't a bad trip. But then we heard a loud bang and then an announcement that one of the engines had gone so we were now running on 3 engines instead of 4 meaning that the boat was now not stablised. The water was coming up and over and it was listing something terrible. I don't think there's any glassware or crockery left in the bar.
We made it to Rosslare and surprisingly the car was in good condition, along with us!
We were intending to head to Waterford but with the ferry being a little bit late, we decided to look for a B&B a bit north of Waterford. To our delight we found a lovely one at a place called New Ross, run by a lady by the name of Greta O'Doherty. Greta gave us a better itinerary for seeing Ireland than what I had organized, and sent us to a very nice Italian Restaurant for tea so it was a great place to stay.
