Another good day for making some miles...clear blue skies.
We saw some pretty country today. Coming west we crossed a 17.5 mile bridge built across several rivers and through the swamps between them. The trees in the swamps are still that light spring green. The sky was cloudless. And, the white egrets were everywhere. It all made a pretty picture.
We ate lunch in Arvy at the Louisiana welcome center. We had sandwiches, salad, and that yummy crab soup we brought back from the restaurant last night. The flag at the welcome center was at half mast in memory of the 11 men who died in the oil rig explosion.
When we turned south off I10 we drove through Lafayette, LA, headed for Broussard. All along the highway are businesses/light industrial that are involved in the oil business. We saw lots of drilling pipe stacked up. Of course, the news channels here are full of news and speculation about the oil spill.
Again, this campground is adequate, right beside the highway. But, for $36.96 for three nights, the price is right.
Tomorrow, I promise we will have pictures to include. We are planning to be tourists and see something of this Cajun Country.
