4th May
Insomnia hit again last night and when I eventually got to sleep I woke up early. However it meant that I could go to reception and sorted out leaving a bag of jumpers an warm clothes I needed for china in their luggage storage and I will just collect them at the end of my trip. Bonus, got a light bag now. We had an absolute marathon of a breakfast spending half an hour at the buffet (another advantage of insomnia) and I was reunited with cereal so had 4 bowls. There was also sushi on offer! Imagine that Chungking mansions. Ha.
We met cat who had arrives last night when we were out, she's a 24yr old nurse from London and has brought hair straigtners so is everyones best friend.
Had a 4hr bus trip to the Cambodian border bus ha two private busses. They were like pimp wagons with lights and mirrors on the ceilings. We could streach out and lay accross seats for a nap. Had to get the driver to stop for an emergency toilet break, literally the most desperate I've been for the toilet since the puffin photoshoot in Iceland.
Arrives at the border in terrifying heat and tops two hours walling to sin paperwork out of Thailand them getting visas then forms into Cambodia. Loads of queing and sweating in fan fileld 'offices' so glad we sid it through a trip so we knew where to go what to do and didn't have to carry our big bags. Whilst queing we bumped into Harry from roam India. In the month we haven't seen him he's turned into a castaway, full on beard and a shirt hacked off at the arms with a pen knife. Was good to see he is still alive AND he had bumped into the girls in Ko Samui!
Another four hours to get to our hotel in Seam reap and got turned round for tea. Went to a resteraunt where I had the Cambodian famous dish. Tasteless. But I also got to sample everyone elses dishes to check that I still don't like Thai green curry. The town was pretty lively so we had a walk around and I few people put their feet in one of the many paddling pools full with tiny fish that nibble off the dead skin. It took me ages to put my hand in, i'm not usually squeemish but something about fish freak me out. Didn't like it, I could imagine their little teeth when I felt their nibbling. We had a look around the night market and three of the girls got some crap pants like mine. I treated myself to a new dress. I promise to throw an old one out.....
We ended in the sticky heat with a cocktail in a bar made from
Bamboo right in the middle of the Market. Luxuary
