Happy Birthday early to Pam tomorrow 5/11.
We left the pull-off this morning and went to Lake Lousie for breakfast at the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise. We then continued on the Banff where we camped for the night.
Today was another cloudy day, but it could have been worse. The forecast for tomorrow is sunny! I am planning on taking the Banff gondola tomorrow morning before we leave for Montana, USA!
On our trip to Lake Louise we saw 2 different black bears. They were both great to watch. One was about 10 feet away from the RV. He was eating grass and other vegetation. I got on the roof of the RV so I could take some photos and not disturb the bear, but a tour bus showed up and scared him away. I did get 2 photos.
A bit more down the road we came upon another black bear eating on the side of the road. We watched this bear for about 10 minutes. The bear was eating and then would move on walking toward Banff, so we followed. We watched the bear for a little and then moved on so the bear could be alone.
After our breakfast in the hotel, we listened to the harpist in the hotel for a little while. She was very good.
The lake was frozen and covered with some snow, and it was cloudy. Dad could not get the photo that he wanted. Oh well. Can't have everything.
Back to the RV and on to Banff. We did ask in the visitors center at Lake Louise if people had seen any grizzly bears. The person we spoke to said they had not heard of any in the area. About 10 miles south on our way to Banff, I spotted a Grizzly up on a hill. He could not walk down to the road because they have put up a fence to protect the animals from getting onto the road and being hit by vehicles. It was great to watch the bear. Lots of other people pulled over to see the grizzly. I had an advantage as I stood on the RV to take my photos. The bear was on a hill and a bit hard to see from ground level. The bear looked up once in a while to see what we were all doing, but it did not seem to be bothered by us. Again, the buses make the most noise and disturbance.
We are down in Banff now. Dad had spaghetti from the Spaghetti Factory while I am working on the computer.
It's been another great day.
