scott's travelling journal travel blog

wow, what a day. couldn't sleep so decided to get up at about 5:00am to go and watch the sunrise. jesus, i'd been told it was good but was absolutely amazing, just like nothing i've ever seen before!

After that, it was back to the bungalow's for an early morning pickup to take me to the dock to catch a ferry to ang thong national marine park. after a 1 1/2 hour ferry journey we got to the first island where all of us kayakers (yes, they let me loose in a kayak!!) spent about an hour touring around the spectacular caves of 4 different paradise islands. after that we went to another island and i climbed up some terrifyingly unsafe steps for about 15 minutes til i reached the view point where you can see above all of the trees in the jungle and some amazing view. after that we had some lunch and then set off to another island where we had the option of more trekking or some time chilling on the island along with some snorkelling. Sea was ridiculously warm, not far off as hot as i have baths at home! unfortunately due to strong currents i only saw 2 fish and it was so murky (with sand) that i couldnt possibly tell you what they are. the coral reef was great too, although again we had limited vies of it due to the sand in the water. after that i went off exploring on my own and found some monkeys (yes, i have about 100 pics of all this, just need to upload them when i have more time). was amazing how unworried they were by human activity, they just carried on with their business as if i wasnt even there. Apparently this is due to the island having never been populated, they've never needed to be afraid of humans, they have no natural predators there.

was an amazing trip and has now made me think about going to stay on the island for a couple of days (though not sure how much more monkey gazing i could do!), its only 500 baht a night (a tenner) and would maybe help me save a bit of money (nothing much to do on the island, so nothing to spend money on!). saying that, im not really sure what to do next, still on koh samui, not sure how long for. I'm going to go see if i can find some beach bungalows where some people i met the other day are staying, but i dont really want to stay here much longer, i really need to start thinking about moving on, if only because the longer i'm here, the more like home it starts to become, and that could be fatal! last thing i wanna do is end up staying here 4 4 months, kinda defeats the object of this whole trip.

Will update in the next couple of days when ive worked out what the plan is.
