No turning back now!
Few more steps and we are on our way!
First Coctail!
| Made it to Port Canaveral about noon. Driving around making our way to the Port we finally got to the point we thought was the entrance to the Port. Only to have two guys tell us it was the airport and the next flight out was in a half hour. Turns out they were only joking. Said they did that to put some excitement into their day! Got a great parking spot right up front. Sorted through our luggage making sure we had everything we needed. Fifteen steps and we were handing the porters our luggage! How great was that! Then maybe 20 minutes in line showing 2 different people our passports and boarding passes we made our way to the desk where we signed waiver then were free to board the ship! Got our first cocktail and toasted the wonderful Mr Double for putting this idea in my head! Checked out our room All decked out with Happy Birthday Banners and gifts and Chocolate Birthday cake! Had a piece of cake and went to check out the rest of the ship. Went to the Windjammer Cafe for a bite to eat. Buffet and and more food then you could ever imagine! After that we went back to our room it was about time for the "Guest Muster Drill". A mandatory emergency drill that helps you to familiarize yourself with the safety routine in case the ship decides to do a "Titanic". Spent about 45 minutes in a warm stuffy room. Other cruises we would stay outside with our life jackets on. So this was really different. We didn't have our life jackets and we just watched someone show us how to put them on. Afterwords went up on deck and watched the ship pull away from Port Canaveral. We watched a man do a ice sculptor. Someone else was making fruits and vegetables into flowers and animals. Took a tour around the ship getting confused at every turn. Finding our way back to our room always seem such a challenge! Went to dinner (I don't think either one of us was very hungry) I had steak, baked potato and green beans. Eleanor had a salad and rigatoni . We sat with a very nice couple from Texas. She has cancer very sad. They just got back from a vacation in Italy! After dinner we walked and checked out some of the shops. Found our way to the Casino. We do seem to be drawn to those darn casino's! We met up with each other about 1:30 in the morning. Went back to the room and I said I was going to put my pj's on. Eleanor said in all seriousness "What are you putting your pj's on so early?" I told her it was 2:00 in the morning! She thought it was 2:00 in the afternoon! I laughed so hard my stomach hurt! She'd been up since 4 in the morning and I think it was finally catching up on her. Time for bed. Got a busy day tomorrow! |
