(Ron Writing) Our weather took a turn for the worse. Yesterday it was cloudy and rained intermittently. We stayed home all day except for a drive into Kernville to pick up our mail. Only problem was our mail still hadn’t arrived.
It was predicted to get down to 31° last night but actually only got down to about 33°. But it did rain a lot and we awoke to see a beautiful layer of snow on all the canyon walls around us. We even had a few flakes in the campground but it melted when it hit the ground.
Our intent was to pick up our mail this morning and then head for a warmer place to stay. At the campground it is supposed to get down to 27° tonight and that’s a little too cold for Da Honu. But, our mail didn’t arrive yet so we changed our plan and we are now camped on the east side of Isabella Lake in the Forest Service dispersed camping area called Stine Cove. It’s a nice place and should stay a couple degrees above freezing tonight but it sure is windy here. We’ll try to pick up our mail again tomorrow.
I noticed on the internet that it’s even supposed to get down in the mid 30’s tonight at North Ranch so this must be a very large cold weather system that’s coming through.
