Another ordinary start today with breakfast on the botel being a disaster again with the Indians somehow managing to do a worse job than the day before. After some grumbling we took off from the botel towards the train station determined not to miss this train. The weather was again ordinary with a light rain mist over the city. Thankfully this time we got to the station nice and early and got settled on the train. The trip was a pretty painless and uneventful one with the clouds blocking much of the view or the countryside. We soon arrived in the lovely Poprad, and by lovely I mean the pretty dodgy looking place. We were relived we decided not to stay here and instead catch a bus to Levoca where we would spend the next two nights. The only downside to this was the wait at the bus station which included a run in with a crazy lady who ran the bathrooms. For some reason we will most likely never understand she decided to get down on all fours when we tried to pay her for using the restroom. This happened to both of us on separate occasions and is one of life’s little mysteries.
A short bus trip later we arrived in Levoca which was a great little surprise. After much angst especially by Amanda, Levoca turned into a great little side trip. Our hotel (Arkada) was a great choice with big open rooms and it being located right in the main square where everything in this town was located. Best of all was the sunshine the greeted us and lifted both our spirits and allowed us for the first time this trip to wear our thongs.
We soon explored the town including the 16th century wall that surrounded it and had worked up an appetite for the evening. We decided to go by the Lonely Planet guide book and try a local place in the square. Upon arriving we were the only customers the poor guy had seen all night. He was a nice and friendly chap and we both felt sorry for him so we made sure we ate all our food on our plates like good little tourists. Lucky for us the food was great and the beer and wine cheap which was the perfect end to a really good day.
