Listening to the Shepherd's Voice travel blog

Dear friends,

I can’t believe in 7 more days I’ll be leaving my home and move to China for 3 years. A lot of people have been asking me how I feel about this whole moving to China thing. To be honest with you, I don’t think it hit me yet!! But I’m sure when I drive to LAX, I’ll realize I’M LEAVING LA.

I have to say, packing for 3 years is not easy. Especially when I’m only allowed to bring two 50 lb. suitcases and 1 carry-on, I really have to think through what I’m going to bring with me. But I’m thankful to have understanding parents; they let me turn the guest room into a packing room.

After my commissioning service, a friend of mine (non-C) asked me, “Jamie, why are you going to China? This is crazy!” I said to her, “Cuz I don’t want a big fish to swallow me. I don’t want to smell like a fish!!” I have to say, I still have no idea what Dad’s going to do in my life for the next 3 years, but I know I’m not the first one. One of the things that I learned is just trust and obey. The little boy who gave the disciples his lunch – 5 loafs of bread and 2 fish (John 6:1-14), I’m sure he didn’t know what’s going to happen, but he offered the little things he had to Jesus and Jesus made it big. This is my prayer: Father, please take the little faith I have and make it big.

After spending about almost 2 years in preparation, I will be leaving on Tuesday, April 29 at 1:40 am. I want to thank each and one of you for walking with me in this journey of serving the people in Dali. Thank you for your love and support, I will miss you very much.

With love,

Jamie
