Leaving the Plantation was not easy. Not only was the weather getting great, but we both truly enjoyed the people. On and evening walk, Marilyn commented it would be hard to leave, something I don't always hear from her when we travel. Many new friends made, looking forward to early return next year.
Our travels home lead us up to Birmingham for the night and then to Chattanooga for a few days with our friends, Bob & Terry. Bob & Terry had "fulltimed" for 8 years and now again own a "stick" home in the Chattanooga area. We had met them in Hilton Head on our first trip South and have since met 6 times on the road.
Chattanooga, what a great city! Not all that big with about 500,000 in the city and surrounding areas. A great vibrant downtown. Shops, bars, sidewalk cafes, a wonderful aquarium, and art museums. Surrounded by the Tennessee River and a beautiful water front there is just a lot to do. Couple this with a tremendous civil war history, you have a great place to visit or call home.
In addition to enjoying some local "watering holes" and eateries, Marilyn and I visited the aquarium which is divided into a saltwater and freshwater buildings. We also visited the old railroad station which has been converted into a high end hotel and home to the Chattanooga Choo Choo. Bob and I took a few minutes visit the local model railroad, but it deserves more time on our next visit.
From Chattanooga it was a long 400 mile day to Cincinnati for dinner with Marilyn's sister before the last leg home.
Bottom line, a great 6 plus weeks that next year will be 10 or 12 with more time at the Plantation. Thanks to the support of Marcy and Meridith for covering Mom to allow us to roam.
Hope you enjoyed the adventure traveling with us,
Until our next journey "travel safe"
