The ferries just keep coming and going 24 hrs a day

What a beautiful day we had today. We started out by looking out the bedroom window to see the sun just starting to peep up on the horizon… By the time we got dressed it was getting higher but we got out just in time to watch the dolphins putting on a show for us… Awesome…

Our friends Bob and Molly from the fulltiming class of ’07 are just a short ways away from us and they invited us to go with them and a lot of their friends to a flea market in Corpus Christi… That sounded great to us but instead of riding along with them, we followed behind so we could have our own transportation with us. That turned out to be great.. We all shopped at the market and although this time we didn’t buy anything, we had a great time with all the new people we met.. When we finished shopping we all headed up the road a few miles for lunch at Rudy’s Bar B Q .. This is the same company that catered our last hurrah dinner the other night but this time Bill and I had something completely different… It was great, and again we had enough leftovers for another meal…

We left the group after lunch and went across the bridge to Padre Island National Seashore… The last time we were here was in 2002 before we went full timing… I remember at that time we were pulling our Seahawk behind us and when we tried to get out of the truck at the Visitors Center, the wind was so strong we could not open the door.. We had to turn the truck away from the wind before we could get out and hang on dearly when we were trying to walk up to the center… It was so bad that time that we didn’t even go down to the water… Well, not this time… It was beautiful and we took advantage of it… WE walked the beach in several places and then took the truck down ad drove the beach. There are several campers right on the beach and it looks like so much fun but… every time we think about all the sand that blows into every corner and tracks into the house we decide that we don’t want to stay right there.. We are close enough to the water in our campsite and it is beautiful.

We came home on the other side of Aransas Pass thru Mustang Island and Port of Aransas where we boarded the ferry to take us back to the mainland..

It was a beautiful day that will remain in our minds for years… For the rest of you, I took pictures…..
