Four fools + in Italy travel blog

Mom, Dad, Angie, Alyse, Becky and Dick packing up and going to Florence to stay so they can catch the plane back to Chicago. Up early so I could ride with them to the airport for future reference for our return to Florence. Easy trip to the autostrade – good signs for airport and rental car drop off at same spot as pick up and then back to airport taxi stand to catch a ride to their hotel in Florence. Got them checked in then a brisk walk to the Adademie to meet for tour of paintings and sculpture, especially David. Our tour guide, Anna Malin, was great, very knowledgable and engaging. Done at a little after 1, meet Becky, Dick, mom and dad outside. Headed to our second tour the Ufizzi and Vasari corridor. Did some more shopping on the way to the Ufizzi and grabbed a quick lunch – sandwiches and chips. Got to the Ufizzi Got a call that Grandma had hurt here back and was in the hospital – good thing mom, dad, Angie and Alyse were heading home the next day. Started our tour of the Ufizzi – agiain we had a good tour guide. Lots of information about the Italian painters. The hallway had portraints of all the rulers and popes of that time period from all over the world. Then we started the Vaari corridor tour – interesting walk but way too much art! Exited by the Piti Palace and walked back to Dad’s restaurant for a quick dinner before our train ride back. I had a salad and spaghetti carbonara and panna cotta for dessert. Linda and Anita split the blue cheese ravioli and Anita had panna cotta for dessert and Linda had tiramisu. Back on board the train to San Ellero – Linda and Anita had purchased single tickets but we forgot to validate them. We thought we might get kicked off but no conductor came through so no worries! After we got back I spent the night in the room that mom, dad, Angie and Alyse had - in the double bed so that my feet weren’t hanging off the end.
