Ephesus: The library

First the Mausoleum of Halicarnassus--an ancient wonder. But it was a guy's tomb. Sometimes I am amazed at human kind's ego. It would have been amazing, but at what cost?

And Efesus: Look at this place..........truly beautiful--and a library--even public latrines. You can imagine how it must have gleamed in the sun, with people strolling along the marble walkways. The artistry is exquisite, so finely detailed. And it was paid for by the local population--their tax dollars at work! The temple of Artemis (one of the 7 ancient wonders) at least it's last remaining column, was just a short bike ride away. We touched the cool, smooth marble, and again imagined the incredible beauty that was here long ago.
