| Kendall insists on taking in the 7 wonders of the ancient world. Well, we aren't going to Iraq, so six is the max. Rhodes Island (part of Greece), just 1 1/2 hours offshore from Turkey, held the Colossus. And Rhodes town is an amazingly preserved medieval wonder, but the Colossus is nowhere to be found--not even the gratuitous ruin of a pedestal or base. So we envisioned it--at the harbor--gleaming bronze in the sunlight. |
