HOLA
After leaving Salto (very relaxing which was needed) we finally arrived in the city Montevideo after another 6 hour private bus drive- which is great as it seems that the only time we get to sleep is on the buses! The City is about 400 years old - beautiful old buildings and churches. City is divided into two sides the old and the new - it is pretty cool to see. As we arrive in each destination Sabe gives us our City Tour and stories along the way. We walked for almost 6 hours - the city is also along a ocean boardwalk - it was beautiful. Later in the evening we were all craving some more good food. Morning breakfast at the hotels mainly consist of white bread; ham and cheese; fruit and coffee. When we get home ham and cheese is off the grocery list for a long time. Sabe took as to the local area of town where we ate and stayed at a Irish Pub until 4:00 am - shocking. We ate and danced with the locals - we met some really nice people here. Myself and Sabe danced the latin dance; I was a little rusty but did not take along to rememeber the moves. We had a ball. Unfortuately, with any city we always need to be careful - Truda had her camera robbed walking back to the HOTEL. Needless to say - next day was tough (as always). We met later the next day - and did shopping - biggest out door market I have I have ever saw - bought some nice hand made jewerley and the guys left and went to football game (soccor) they call it football here and they are very passionate about their football - the Uruguay football team are staying at our Hotel!
I was suppose to go but really needed a few hours of sleep and relaxation plus we had a early rise and more ham and cheese the next moring - heading to Colonia - again another old city but this city has a spanish favor and cobble stone streets. The futher we go south the cooler it is getting - we spent the major part of the trip in 35 + temps now mid-twenties which is still nice for us but people are dressed for winter - looks really odd. Anyway got to run - never enough time. Of course our trip is winding down; after Colonia it is Buenos Aires - we are all so excited about BA - stay turned.
