The plan was for the ship to anchor off Beachene Island about 1am so we could view the 175,00 breeding pairs of black browed albatross when we awoke at 6am. I heard the anchor chain going down then up. The weather was not good and the anchor had been dragging. They also tried Lion Island but to no avail so we went into Stanley, the capitol of the Falkland Islands that wasn’t even on the itinerary. An interesting afternoon surrounded by Land Rovers, Union Jacks, English accents and Margaret Thatcher Way! (she is very popular because of the war) A walk along the foreshore to the museum which was very interesting. As we ate dinner the anchor was raised and we set out to Bleaker Island ready to go ashore first thing in the morning. The seas had calmed and the wind dropped. Excellent…..
