Having Fun With Friends
Mar 18, 2010
|We slept great last night and did not awaken until 7:30 AM.
We shared our morning coffee with the fireplace on for ambiance. Sherry L. was out walking around and we invited her in for coffee. Rick soon joined us as did Sherry W.
Sherry W. asked about our music that we write about so I put the Ipod in the docking station and we had nice music to add to the enjoyable morning.
It wasn’t long before the entire group was ready to head out for a day of fun in Galveston.
The girls all rode with Sherry W. while the guys all rode with Don in his Van.
I called our friends, Kit & Jerry, who we knew were working in Galveston, with a NOMAD project rebuilding homes.
Jerry gave me the location and we made a plan to stop by and see them for a moment.
The gals had escaped us as we tried to follow them. They made various twisting turns and doubled back a few times but finally managed to ditch the guys.
We drove to the NOMAD project site and were greeted by Kit & Jerry.
They gave us a tour and showed us what they have been doing. We have the utmost admiration for these good people and others like them who give so much in time and effort, as they help people rebuild their lives. May God bless each one of them!
The guys finally tired of driving around looking for our wives and we called them on the phone, making plans to meet for lunch at a fine seafood restaurant.
We arrived about an hour before our appointed time so that we could sit outdoors with a cold beer, watching the college kids go by.
We also shared some fried oysters and onion rings. Yummy!
When the gals arrived we were ready and all nine of us enjoyed a very nice meal with a variety of seafood.
After lunch the entire group wandered out on a pier, enjoying the bright sunshine and the waves crashing on the beach. We caught brief glimpses of the dolphins playing in the surf.
The guys returned to our temporary home while the gals made a few more stops along the way.
It wasn’t long before all five couples were together again, sitting on the patio with cold margaritas and a wide variety of snacks.
It was after seven when we broke up to play some Mexican Train.
We look forward to another great night of sleep and more fun with long time friends tomorrow.
Life is good!
