The waterways of Lijiang
Early morning Lijiang street - Bliss!
| Time for the bus trip back to Lijiang again. By now we know every turn of the road and we must be the biggest money maker for the bus company. Unfortunately Anna chose to be sick today. She is blaming it on a dodgy egg, so the bus wasn't the best move especially on the bumpy section. By the time we got off she was looking green. Not the best sight! Throughout the day we had been wondering about the journey to our next port of call, Jinghong in the south. We could either catch a 30+ hour bus or fly. We decided against the bus which we later found out could take anything up to 50 hours depending on the driver's mood. A flight it was. Then we found out the flight from Lijiang had stopped and that we would have to travel back to Dali in order to catch a flight from there. Anna found a cheap ticket which made the 50 minute flight only $40 more than the bus and we were eventually sorted. Unfortunately this also meant more backtracking. The consolation was another night in one of our favourite place and we spent the evening on the hunt for souvenirs, buying some rather cool bits. Day 68 complete |
