The Frugal Travelers travel blog

We got up really early this morning so we could get on the road by 8:30 am. I first had to go pick up Charlotte and Uncle Boone and we had to load all of their stuff into the truck, and then load it into the RV when we got back.

I’m a little out of practice at closing the RV up and getting it ready for the road, but all went well, and off we went. Everyone seemed to be in a joyful mood, so there was lots of kidding and carrying on.

We stopped around noon somewhere in Kentucky at a rest area. We all made a potty break then Charlotte and I made some sandwiches for lunch. With that taken care of, we jumped back in the truck and took off again.

We actually drove 384.6 miles the first day, which I think is a bit too far to drive, but did it anyway. We were all really tired when we arrived in Elkmont, Alabama. I think we just had some soup on the first night of travel or something like that.

I didn’t get any pictures because I was just too tired to go out and get any. Sorry!! The name of the RV Park is Mill Creek Park. It is located probably 6 or 8 miles off the highway, way out in the boonies, but I just loved it. Nothing fancy, but did have all amenities, even good wi-fi. The couple that runs it are very sweet and helpful. There is a creek that runs down below it, but I didn’t go check it out. Don and I will definitely come back here when we can spend some time. It is a very quiet and peaceful place. No cable in this place, but that is what movies are for. Wouldn’t hurt any of us to do without TV for a few days.

So, we are heading out early in the morning for Meridian, MS. Will tell you about that place tomorrow. Take care and stay safe. :)
