My friends and I went to Florence on the 29th of January. We were there from early Friday morning until Saturday early evening. I had so much fun! I went with four of my other friends, and we stayed in a hostel right near the train station, so it was very convenient. We got there around 10am on Friday, and went straight to see sights! We went to see the real Davide in the galleria d'academia, as well as the rest of the artwork in that museum. The Davide was amazing - so grand and beautifully constructed. We also went in the Duomo, which was so pretty. The floors and the ceilings were amazing - it was one of my favorite churches I have seen. We went to the Uffizzo museum as well, and spent about two hours there. We saw the birth of Venus which was really cool, as well as a bunch of other famous paintings and great architecture. We walked across the Ponte Vecchio as well. Then we went shopping! We went to the leather market, and my friend recommended to me before I left that I contact a leather man that she bought her coat from, so I called him and we spent about an hour in his store trying on leather coats. He gave us a great discount! I got my very own leather coat that I will wear for the rest of my life. After walking around the whole day, we went to a great Tuscan restaurant for dinner. The waiter was so nice - he started our meal off with a Spumante, and ended it with Limoncello!!
On Saturday, we walked around for awhile - looked in a few shops, went to the indoor food market near the leather market which was amazing! Then, we walked for awhile and stumbled upon the Jewish area as well as the Jewish Temple, but it was closed because it was Saturday. We also saw the church where I believe Dante was buried.
Overall, it was a great, and exhausting trip. I really felt like we covered the whole city by foot. The weather wasn't the best - drizzling, and colder, but things were still gorgeous.
