From Streaky Bay on the Eyre Pennisula, Ken and I drove to the Flinders Ranges! What a truly amazing place! The large mountains, and valleys were gorgeous physical features, while the trees and many kangaroos were wonderful flora and fauna features as well.
We really enjoyed the contrast from the beautiful ocean coast, to the spectacular inland mountain ranges!
The Wilpena campground was just beautiful. The sites were spread out with many trees, and super facilities. Ken and I went on a hike up to the top of Mt. Olsseen Bagge. Up there it was a panaramic view of Wilpena Pound - which is a flat valley area surrounded by a mountain range. Check out the photos.
At the site we were visited by two "friendly" kangaroos. Ken went over to take photos of them, and then momma and youngster came hopping directly over and found some raisin bread. They literally just helped themselves. It was pretty cute. But then, they wouldn't go away! The kangaroos just keep hopping over closer. We had dinner cooking, so we didn't want them to get our supper! I was kind of nervous, because I wanted to get rid of them but how? Ken then kicked some dirt and stones at them and that annoyed them enough to hope away. Phew! Dinner was saved!
Ken and I enjoyed our camping holiday. We talked to so many Aussies and all of them were friendly and chatty. We are happy to be home, and we are looking forward to our Red Centre trip to Uluru and Darwin in July!
