Masses of prickly pear are appearing everywhere.

Cotton fields are everywhere as well.

And what would Texas be without oil wells, pumping rigs, and refineries.

Yesterday was a driving day. We started late as I got the trip journal updated in the morning, but then we drove about 500 miles into the evening. The center and into the west of Texas got more rolling, and we saw lots of the following: oil wells, drilling rigs and refineries, wind farms (many hundreds of windmills), prickly pear cactus, and cotton fields, which I wouldn't have expected. We stopped for the night in a rest area a hundred miles east of El Paso.
