This was one of our “Find something close listed in Woodall’s Guide” trips. We wanted something that seemed simple to get to and this looked like a good choice. The park is rustic and also has a mission of providing camps and program for foster kids it had full hookups and seemed to cater to larger RVs. The spot we got was pull-thru and pretty easy to access, with trees that were not too tight to maneuver around. As this was rustic the spaces were not flat at all, and even though we had learned our lessons around checking clearances, we were still learning about compromises. This spot required us to compromise for access and location, versus access to the sewer.

We ended up being downhill from the sewer hookup, but our first Tahoe trip taught us that we can live on single tanks. In fact the only tank that gets close to full in a weekend is the shower/sink and that is fully in our control. We set up easily and proceeded to order a firepit for a campfire (The Wife demands these). The park was about ½ full including a few families camping together. It is a nice park built around a hill on the lakeshore, many of the spots are for small RVs, and we realize that we are limited to where we can camp. Some of the pull thru’s downright on top of each other so you have to be careful. Also, they had originally put us in a back in site that would have been a very tight fit with our unit length. There is not much to the town of Dobbins, typical of goldrush towns, the reason for being has long since passed.

The resort has a nice store, restaurant, and game area, but it is a hike from the campground. We had an enjoyable weekend of biking, walking, and relaxing. Upon leaving we had to first pack up enough to move the trailer up the hill a bit to drain the tanks. As a note, we watched with interest as a 2009 summer fire came very close to the resort, but managed to finally stay away from it.
