Benton Arkansas

Benton was formerly named Bentonville and was established in 1837. The current population is about 27 thousand and is ranked as the 16th largest city right behind Texarkana. Benton was first settled in 1833 and was named after the Missouri Senator Tom Benton. Not too many senators nowadays have a city named after them. Maybe they could name the city dumps after the current US Senators.

The I-30 campground is the same one we stayed in last year, and it will be the last time. The campground is more of a trailer park than a campground. Sites and location are not the best.

To get to Benton we had to drive through Nashville TN and Memphis TN. Both very nice cities that we have toured in the past. If you have the time spend some of it in these two cities. Lots to do and see. In fact next October we will be taking a week trip to Nashville, that will include the Opry and a dinner cruise on the General Jackson.

Benton AR is just a place to stop for us. Next time we will stop earlier so we do not have to camp in Benton.

The pictures included in this entry are from the Dove collection on the City of Benton

website. Lots of nice photos there. Stop by and see.

This site will be updated as events occur. If you want to be notified when there are updates please sign on request update section on the web page. Thanks for riding along with us.
