My Man Marty....at the Gulf of Mexico - San Destin, Florida

We spent a wonderful Christmas – in Stone Mountain, GA - with my sister, Carol, her family and my father, Ray. I was wonderful to see my Dad again. It has been two years since my mother passed away and my family was very worried about how Dad would adjust in Georgia. He is doing remarkably well. I cannot begin to explain how much it does my heart good to know that Carol, her husband Ray and their family are giving our Dad (and Grandpa) the love, comfort and care that he deserves. We should all be so fortunate.

I’ve written about Stone Mountain Park in a past entry so I will not go into detail about all the stuff you can see and do there. During the Christmas season it is especially wonderful….lots of lights and decorations and fantastic musical (Christmas) programs to attend. It is worth a visit!

We went to a Christmas Eve service at Carol and Ray’s church. The highlight of the service was when the children’s minister asked all the young children to join her on the steps of the alter for a Christmas story. She began to tell the story of Jesus’ birth. A young girl (about 4 years old) jumped up during the story and announced, “I saw the movie!” It was hilarious! I think I saw that movie too!

We celebrated New Years in Destin, Florida – on the Florida panhandle. It was a short hike to the beach (Gulf of Mexico). We enjoyed the clean white sand and cursed the below freezing nights. But, all in all it is a good life and a wonderful New Year.
