This morning we got up early to try to catch some of the big animals out in the park this morning. Our result was not what we wanted, just 2 rabbits. We did get a nice view of Mt. McKinley with the sun just on it's peak.
Depart Denali National Park for Anchorage about a 270 Miles drive from our resting spot. We did get more views of McKinley from Rte 3 as we headed south to Anchorage. It's a nice drive with mountains on either side of the road most of the time. We were surprised to see many people out on snowmobiles. Most of the pull-off areas were full of people and machines. Lots of people had RV's with trailers hauling their snowmobiles.
Once we got about 100 miles form Anchorage the snow declined rapidly. I guess that's why the people with the snowmobiles were farther north. The day temp in Anchorage was 67 when we arrived. I still can not believe how lucky we have been with the weather! I spoke to Pam tonight and she told me about the lousy weather at home. Sorry!
We did get a small amount of rain this evening, but I hope it goes away soon. We are thinking of going on the glacier tour tomorrow out of Whittier. It would be great if this nice weather could hold up for that.
